An Innovative Solution to Administer General Assistance

|
| Backing up your VisualGA Database | Backing up your VisualGA database is critical. Each week, your network administrator should verify that VisualGA is backing up correctly. The location of the backup will be on the server hosting VisualGA. Under Scheduled Tasks, there should be a scheduled task that states “VisualGA Backup”. Open this task to locate where the backup is being performed. This will be in the “Run” command and will be in the following format:
"c:\program files\visualga\visualga.exe" backup "D:\BackupFolder\VisualGA" del
D:\BackupFolder\VisualGA is the location of the backup. Look in this folder to verify VisualGA has been backing up successfully. We recommend that you set the task to run as the SYSTEM account to eliminate the need for keeping passwords synchronized when running the task under a standard user account. | | We also recommend setting the backup location to a sub-folder named "Backup" where the VisualGA share is located. This is helpful so that when a VisualGA support technician is updating your system, they can verify that the backups are being created without logging into the server. Using this logic you would create a folder such as \\myserver\VisualGA\Backup and refer to this file location for the scheduled task above. |
